Introduction to GIMP

No Photoshop. No money. No problem. GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) is a popular free alternative to Photoshop. GIMP is open source software available to both Mac and Windows users. This presentation will provide its audience with hands on experience creating digital artifacts at a beginners pace. For starters, a crash course in GIMP’s user interface will quickly make navigation comfortable.

Step-by-step walkthrough of 3 entry level projects
1. fast filter technique
2. creative photo edit
3. draw a sphere (the smart way!)

GIMP can be used as a stepping stone to Photoshop in the scope and sequence of one’s curriculum. However, GIMP could very well stand on its on as a tool used in the careers of professional designers, digital painters, photographers, and 3d digital artists. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to download GIMP prior to the presentation.
