A Learning Commons is defined as “a learning ‘space’ that is both physical and virtual - a place to experiment, practice, celebrate, learn, work, and play” (Keechlin, Rosenfeld and Loerttscher). It sounds noisy and messy, doesn’t it? But Christine Sturgeon, MNW Teacher Librarian/Technology Integrationist isn't
worried. She's not a shushing librarian, and learning sometimes is messy. Here, she leads a discussion in creating a Learning Commons environment in your school, at the elementary, middle or high school level, and how MNW School Libraries are being transformed.
